STDs

The annual incidence of sexually transmitted diseases is approximately 15 million cases in the United States. As anal-based erotic practices have increased, the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases of the anus and rectum has also increased. Symptoms of pain, urgency, loose stool, passage of mucus and or blood following anal receptive intercourse, especially if unprotected, can be an indication of a rectal STD, or in some instances represent contiguous spread from genital infections.
